A drawer full of pocket watch crystals
#238 - 365
The piece of glass that covers the dial of your watch is called the crystal. That doesn't mean it's made of crystal, but "crystal" is the correct name for it. Original crystals for vintage pocket watches were typically made of mineral glass, and came in a wide variety of shapes, thicknesses and styles.
Just reading up on these was fascinating as there was different crystals for different styles and sizes of pocket watches. Even one site mentioned that some of the crystals are harder to come by, as in the more common sizes. These are very little used today I think, altho im sure there is many collectors out there.
