Pinnace 63ft Mk.1
#66 - 365
The 63ft Pinnace was the workhorse of the post war RAF Marine Craft fleet, widely used at UK and overseas bases, for lifting and laying of marine and aircraft moorings, the recovery of torpedoes, sonar buoys and other practice weapons dropped on exercise, towing and cargo carrying duties, and assisting with aircrew sea survival exercises and helicopter rescue crew training.
Sometimes when out shooting other finds i like to wander further out to see if there was anything close by. On this way i walked up the quay and found this boat which i thought looked quite WW2ish. Only when i got home and researched it i found that it was, unlucky i didnt or couldnt see any markings or numbers on the boat which then i could find more history and where it may have served. I hope someone who owns it will rescue it and return it to its original state, as i think it would be an awesome sight to see.
