#346 - 365
The house was originally owned by the Wrixon-Beecher family that came over here in Stuart times and lived in the house until 1935. The next owner Jack Lombard which made Ballygiblin become associated with the racing world, becoming a household name in equestrian circles for over 20 years.
It was then bought by a Captain Hornsby, who ran the estate in the middle of the last century. In a ruse to avoid property taxes in 1960, the captain removed its roof before abandoning the estate shortly afterwards.
The current owners converted one of the stable blocks into a home, but on our visit it showed signs of abandonment too. There was still a vast amount of good and still usable buildings left around the ruined house.I think i've seen it as sale agreed recently.
