Leslie Hale and his Faith Cathedral
Leslie hale was Northern Ireland's only holy roller, it was claimed he had an opulent lifestyle, owned several Rolls Royce cars, and bought property in the south of Ireland and also Florida paid by ministry funds.
His faith cathedral near Ballyearl was to be paid for by his followers, a £1 million project, which was to have its own recording studio, auditorium, motel, restaurant, and also sports centre.
Mr. Hale’s Faith Cathedral fundraising activities were at one stage probed by Fraud Squad, but no criminal charges resulted.
But fundraising efforts to build the church were abandoned when Mr. Hale left for the United States in 1981 as he also left behind £180,000 worth of debts.
These images which are from 2008 show the unfinished shell which was never to be completed. Since these were taken the buildings have been demolished and there is now warehousing on the site.
